Masala papad….wil be the first thing we order when we go to restaurents as a starter. The chatpata papads are everyone’s favourite. This papad has got twist and turn …given by me and has become ‘masala papad cone ‘.Here I have used masala papad instead of normal plain urad papad . It’s very tasty and easy to make within minutes.
An instant snack. will be served as evening snacks for children and also with tea and coffee.its very healthy with ‘0’ oil and full of vegetables.
you can make this for parties as a starter.
Ingredients :- Onion 1 small size
Carrot -1 medium size
Tomatoes – 1
Capsicum – 1/4 piece
Cucumber – 1 / 4 piece
Masala Papads – 2
Red chilli powder – 1 / 4 tsp ( according to your taste)
Chaat masala – 1/4 ts
Fresh coriander chopped – 1 tbsp
Lemon juice – 1 tsp
Pudina for decoration
Pomogranate seeds (you can add for extra taste) – 2 tsp
Fried Peanuts for the crunch – 1 tbsp
Dry roast the papads…immediately twist it and form a cone …after roasting , if its left ..it’ll become hard and will break. So be quick …as soon as you remove from the roasting, turn it to cone shape . (don’t roast hard) don’t use microwave for roasting, you cannot roll it. Dry roast direcly on the flame.
For the filling –
mix the chopped vegetables, peanuts, Pomogranate seeds, coriander, chilli powder, chat masala, lemon juice and salt.use less salt. ..because you are adding chat masala and papads also has salt in it.Fill the cones with veg filling as shown in the picture. Serve immediately .when you want to make this for parties as starter, get ready the cones and while serving you fill it up and serve This is one of my twist in papad.instant and filling…above all very nutritious. ..
You can mix bhel with the filling and prepare sukha bhel and fill the cones and serve.
If you want more chatpata , you can apply tamarind chutney or tomato sauce inside the cones and stuff it.
For more spicy cones you can use green chutney/Pudina chutney.
For children you can mix some fresh fruits like Apple, guava, melon, pine apple, mango/kachi keri …..etc along with the vegetables or only fresh fruit version also you can make.
If you don’t like masala papad, you can use plain urad papad also.
